Invariably on frosty mornings I'm either found scraping the windscreen with a credit car or revving the B*ll*cks off the car engine trying to get it to warm up. SoI want something that plugs into the cig lighter and automatically comes on 10 minutes before I'm due to go to work, so that the car is warm and the windscreen has defrosted, before i come tearing out of the house with my shirt half buttoned and a slice of toast between my teeth.

I'm sure I've seen them advertised but I'm buggered if I can find can find one. Anyone seen one?

Had a quick look for you

but I can't find one that you can programme to turn on 10 minutes before you get in your car.
I can only find one with a 3 hour on/off timer, or ones without any timer.

Wouldn't you need to have the ignition turned on to get power through the 12V socket? Otherwise your battery would be in use 24hrs a day and would go flat in about 2 days.
Don't know about you but I'd be a little uneasy about leaving the keys in a bmw overnight in Barnsley. If I lived somewhere down south it'd be fine. People would break in the car just to clean it.

Saying that though; there is a socket in the boot too next to the battery which may be on a separate circuit. Or is it all an elaborate parallel circuit? I'd be interested to know if someone cares to explain.

Netto sell good windscreen covers for about 80p. Cheaper than buying de-icer throughout the winter months.
