I think the club is focused on "progress", as opposed to promotion at the moment and obviously progress can be seen as a variety of different things. In my opinion, if the club are to really progress they need to do a few things. 1. Sign players on permanent contracts in the summer, and commit to not selling them in January. Any player who signs should be made fully aware that the club will not sell them in January. There simply isn't a good enough market to buy replacements in January. 2. We need to be far less amateurish on the business side. As others have mentioned, all I hear coming from Oakwell are negative messages about how we can't compete. I like realism, but plenty of fans like to feel like we're actually going somewhere. 3. Ensure that the hire and fire culture of the past is over. There is a positive correlation between length of time a manager is in post and success. We should recognise that and be brave enough to stand up to the vocal minority. Anyone else got anything? Try to keep it reasonable, there are plenty of other threads to grind your axe in.
What we really need is support for Keith Hill and his team, from us fans, yes it has not been a good season but we are still in the Championship. I think Hill has done a good job in the circumstances, yes he has made mistakes but I genuinely feel he has given his all to the cause. Barnsley Football Club will always be my team whether or not we are in the championship or we have 4k fans every home game......I remember those days, those 4k gave their support 100% no matter who was in charge and on the pitch playing. We are in this together! Keith will have my support next season, I think he deserves and has earnt another years support!
The Hill has had during the worst run for 35 years has been remarkable and anyone that says otherwise is way off the mark.
