OK we don`t get many batterings in a season but can someone please explain the progress regards the team since Ritchie got the sack!!
RE: We do have better players.. but unfortunately they haven't made us into a much better team. I was no fan of Ritchie and thought that it was right for him to go when he did. However, I think that he would do better with this group of players than Davey is doing.
RE: We do have better players.. The fact that we have better players on paper yet are still in a desperate relegation fight every season shows how poor a manager Davey is in terms of tactics and motivation
its fairly obvious that we have improved under Davey i would have thought. He took over when we were second bottom and kept us up. We had a good start to last season but it would be fair to say that the cup distracted us from the league and we had quite a few bad injuries. We did however get to the FA Cup Semi Final. Magic stuff. We have done OK this season - we are definitely a stronger side than we were under Ritchie, rather than being bottom 3/4 fodder we are now bottom 8 fodder. We are slowly improving. Slowly. We'll have to see how far Davey can take us. We will stay up this season and I expect a probable finish in the bottom 8. Next season will be the watershed in my opinion. You can't argue with year on year improvement, but if/once we start moving backwards it will be time for him to go. We haven't reached that stage yet, in fact, we're nowhere near it.
RE: its fairly obvious that we have improved under Davey Where have we improved?? Davey said if the FA Cup hadnt got in our way we would have been in the top half of the table, in my eyes that makes this season worse, Im my eyes the bell is tolling on Davey and I know its time for him to stand aside and allow someone (dont know who before you ask) take over, dont get me wrong, he would be good in Ryan Kidds place but not as manager, he has bought players not up for a fight and shouldnt have let Stan go at all
RE: its fairly obvious that we have improved under Davey I fail to see how having less points now than we had at this stage last year sits with "year on year improvement" Especially as this season he has no cup run to point to as an excuse. Our current performances and results have the R word stamped all over them.
form guide would suggest otherwise. http://www.footballanorak.com/Coca-Cola-Championship-Form-Guide-1.html
RE: the only objective basis we can use is league position Are we talking about now or at the end of the season?
fair enough mate. if we sit in the bottom 6 on less points than last season then, as i said, time to go. I think we will finish 16th or thereabouts on around 55 - 58 points.
Are you serious? You are expecting us to get 26 points from 18 games, at a rate of 1.44 per game when we have so far only been able to accrue 32 points from 28 games, a rate of 1.14 per game. You have to be joking.
Ritchie was always going on about missing this player and that during the transfer window while Simon err... ...
