PRO'S

Players looked sharp, eager, and worked for each other, even McPhail

Average age of the starting XI was 24

    Front two worked well together

Tonge looked steady and should become a useful player

Looked comfortable on the ball but mixed up the tatics instead of trying to pass it in the net

Not affraid to shoot from distance

Reid and Hassell still to return who were two of the more consistant players last season

    CONS

    Colgan decision making

Nicky Wroe is simply not good enough.

Im not going to knock him personally, but I think he must be a magician in training.
From what you see of him in games, he is a passanger.

No Pace, Passing is average at best, no power in his crossing/shooting, no positional sense and he isnt very competetive in the tackle.

Why can nobody else see he offers nothing?

    No great fan of Wroe

but he did his job very effectively on Saturday.

As did the whole team when we went down to 10 men. A great contrast to the panic that set in when we suffered the same fate against Udders last season.

    on Saturday.

    Take those blinkers off.

He did do alright, but that is all he ever does. Its just OK.

If i was given the chance to play, I woult sweat blood for that team, and Wroe just seems to do enough, go through the motions.

Im willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, with him being homegrown, but it wont suprise me if in 1 years time we are still talking about what Nicky Wroe actually does, because nobody knows.

    Typical BFC

Being negative according to Hanson and Lawro sat next to me.

You're entitled to your opinion even though you're wrong !!:D Seriously though, start of a season everybody should have a clean sheet, I mean the amount of stick Carbon has had yet on Saturday he was my MOM as part of an excellent TEAM performance>

Guy sat on the row in front of me

Just to the left , criticised Ritchie for being too negative for replacing Hayes with Wroe . He went ballistic when Conlon came on for Nardiello , shouting that he hoped we'd lose due to our boring , defensive performance . Looking round expecting everyone to be agreeing with him , his face was a picture when he realised everyone was laughing our socks off at his punditry !!!! :pff

    more pro's than cons

Overall it was a solid, positive performance and we showed that we are not scared to mix it up either!

Plus it was good to see the fans behind the team and behind Ritchie. Wroe is a decent squad player and i thought he did well when he came on (even though out of position), if he can improve in some areas he could become a good player?

If we play like that all year i'll be happy and confident of playoffs, at least, our only down fall is lack of squad numbers!

Let's hope that Conlon gets no more per match this season than he got on Saturday.

    As it's highly unlikely

That Hayes & Nardiello will both complete 46 matches each , I was wondering whether we could move in again for Michael Chopra ? Especially taking into account that Newcastle are supposed to be the only club , so far , to have made a firm offer for Michael Owen and are also strongly linked to Nicholas Anelka and Robbie Keane . Probably just pie in the sky wishful thinking on my part !!!

    It would be nice...

as any challenge for promotion could be derailed by only having hayes and nardiello

Considering he twice took an elbow in the face I'd have thought that was commitment.
Home grown lad = fans on his back at Oakwell.

I don't know if it's jealousy or what but we seem to have a knack at Oakwell at turning on our own.

I heard one guy behind me shout abuse against Wroe cause he'd not got to a ball - funny how a few minutes later when he made an excellent tackle the same bloke was noticeable by his silence!

    RE: Typical BFC

Aye I heard similar to that. Being negative cause we were taking off a striker. Hmmm let me think, 2-0 up, down to 10 men, makes sense to keep the general shape of the team and play 4-4-1 and it worked well,my only gripe was that they then seemed to want to lump it forward rather than bring it/pass it out which they should have been able to do when the player short was up front.

    We started

to knock it long to Nardiello and continued to do so when Conlon came on. Neither won many headers
