XBox 360...by a LONG way. Halo 3 Gears of War PES 6/7 Bioshock I could go on...not to mention XBox live. And it's cheaper.
I'd go with the PS3, but i'm biased. Heard of TONS of problems with 360's overheating - not the case with the PS3. The 360 of course has the upper hand as it has been out longer and has loads of software support - but the games are chugging along nicely now on the PS3. If FIFA rocks your boat, then thats out in the next couple of weeks, then in October there is Pro Evo. Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo HD would be a huge pull for me though. Having played GT HD, it's just unbelievable how good the graphics are.
GTA comes out for 360 anyway and project gotham racing is an alternitave to gran turismo and is much better in my opinion (Y)
Project Gotham Racing Isn't Forza Motorsport more of an alternative to Gran Turismo? It was the much more "realistic" of the two on XBox. Or has Forza not been released on 360 yet? I'm a dinosaur when it comes to consoles... I wait until they've dropped considerably in price!
I've always had a Playstation and not an XBox, but I think the price difference is going to change me.
Thing about the PS3 is... ...you're paying for the Bluray facility and that might become obsolete the way things are going.
RE: Thing about the PS3 is... I hardly ever play DVDs on my PS2 so that isn't a big thing for me. I'll probably buy one console now and another in a year or so anyway.
RE: Thing about the PS3 is... Just had my 360 replaced after suffering the "red ring of death". They've been very good about it, although I suspect that they don't do much to repair the broken console you send them. It must be costing them millions. Trouble is I'll have to get the new one chipped now. Such is life.
my brother woks in the games industry as a programmer, as a result he has a PS3, XBox360 and a Wii. The best is easily the 360 due to the number of quality games out for it. The PS3 is a good machine but its lacking in games and will be a long time before it catches up due to it being a pain in the arse to programme for.
The only other option in a Wii, which is great fun, and more fun in some respects than the 360, but lacksmany of the stand out games the 360 has. If you want something for all the family and have young kids then the Wii is superb, even the missus will like it.
Besides, my brother worked on the latest Burnout game for the 360 and tells me it's a corker, so go buy that when it appears

Price difference? When everything is weighed up, there's nothing in it being honest. I have not tried xbox live, but by all accounts it's very good. But when you are paying for the service, so it should be too. But the PS3's online service is free. So if you rarely use it, the PS3 at least costs nothing, but on the xbox you do feel obliged to use it simply because you have paid for it. At the end of the day it's your call. You really do need to have a long, hard think about it. Both machines are expensive, so choose wisely. No rash decisions. Oh, and the X-Box 360 is more likely to have a shorter lifespan than the PS3. So many people complain about their 360 overheating and then dying, then microsoft not giving a toss. The PS3 is also a much quieter machine.
I've come to a decision.. XBox 360 Elite for 299.99, comes with extra wireless controller and Forza Motorsport. Good deal??
RE: Thing about the PS3 is... Not alot really - just went liney and fuzzy or froze. Very common apparently. Microsoft backup were typically American - arranged everything and insisted I had a nice day. I've beent told that the replacements can be dodgy too - let's see what happens.
If you insist..... http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99499&highlight=elite why not get this to go with it - bargain. Although you wouldn't need this for the PS3 as it is bundled with the charger ;-)
don't get it flashed if ya wanna play onlline microsoft have done updates banning flashed 360s from using xbox live
