Anyone got one (or more) pre-ordered?
News today - The commercial director quit this morning without notice and it's thrown the whole launch allocation up in the air.

Yep, pre ordered it at Choices Video £30 deposit, £425 for 60gb model, Game are wanting £50 deposit, neither are doing any bundles yet. I saw Woolworths were doing it for £454 plus a game not sure on their deposit though, u can get em from Argos but if it's owt like the Wii i got from them it was pay in full straight away.
I've got three lined up at the moment. 1 @ game, 1 @ HMV and 1 @ Choice UK.
Argos are the only major retailerthat actually tied up a deal with the commercial director before he walked away!!!! They are guranteed 25000 (5% of total)PS3 on launch day.

I was hoping to get one at launch but I cant afford all that. Gonna wait a while in case they come down - or do better value for money by throwing in a game later in the year. Nothing from the launch game lineup interests me anyway. Pro Evo is the only real thing I want it for. GTA I reckon will be good too - but always found the PS2 versions too hard anyway.
RE: I was hoping to get one at launch Prices won't drop for the first year. The production at the moment means that after the initial lauch in March, demand will still be there in September / October. Add to that the panic buying for Christmas 2007, you might see some movement in 2008.
Frustrating thing is, the most expensive part of the PS3 is some microchip. Since the US/Japan lauch, Sony have found a cheaper way of doing it and cut production costs by 45% but actually increased the overall price of the console. (Europe getting ripped off yet again).

RE: I was hoping to get one at launch Things like that have been said before - no price cuts for x amount of time, and the opposite has happened. Due to the high cost of the console and a real lack of quality titles out at launch, I think sales of the machine wont be as high as they are hoping. Im no expert in any way - but if sales are low, chances are that it will be due to the cost more than anything. Even if prices dont fall on the unit, im sure games bundles will be more common, and that is the time that I may jump in.
