About 2 miles from the ground, but be warned, most of the pubs on the approach to the ground are now either closed, or not a good idea for Visiting fans. Grenoside is about as close as you'll get for a safe, decent pint. Cow & Calf is on Skew Hill (right at the lights off the A61 in Grenoside) http://www.sheffieldpub.co.uk/pubs/grenoside/cow-&-calf-inn/ Sam Smiths, so cheap beer. Quite alot of Reds fans live in the village & this seems to be the preferred place to meet up. We'll be there with a mix of Reds & Owls fans. Nice courtyard outside where kids can play (NB they are not allowed in the pub other than to go to the loo) For anyone wanting food, suggest you try The Old Harrow in the Village (Main St). Not sure if Norfolk Arms does food (A61), Red Lion does but it's pricey. It's a good half hour walk downhill, or by car you can take the car down Fox Hill, though there are police cones from Wadsley Bridge onwards - basically you need to be parking after the Fox pub on Fox Hill, or just after the Working Mens Club on A61. Careful where you park -some areas a bit dodgy. Other parking on Clay Wheels Lane, but that involves going down to Leppings Lane roundabout & doubling back on yourself. Not bad for a getaway if you know your way round the backs. Bring it on (Y) (raiseaglass)
I'll be somewhere in Sheffield with a couple of fowls, both before and after the game. Safe to say I'm not wearing colours on Saturday!
Aye, it isn't the best, We used to do the Cow and Calf on sundays but it's a bit of a trek back toward civilisation
It's perfect for us. I could probably throw a tennis ball onto the car park from here! Could be the 66 back home though.
Sounds a great idea. Will be parking right at the bottom of Foxhill road (Baxter close) and so will be coming the back way on Woodhead Road. So will be in that direction
Funnily enough some friends who live on Baxter Drive are coming up for a drink... if we take a car we may be parking on their drive, (not that I'm volunteering to drive)
Pub on the left as you go down the hill towards Hillsborough. Last few times they have given us half the boozer, anyone know if it will be the same deal?
Could be in there mesen leaving it up to a Wendy from work who is a real ale drinker to select our pre and post match drinking establishments
RE: Could be in there mesen Although Kelham Island tavern wins best CAMRA pub every year I'm not a fan, New Barrack Taverns alright but it will full of deluded Wednesdayites.
RE: The Devonshire Cat. nt Thats alright for the Ushited game but a bit far out for Swillsborough. Cracking pint of Jaipur though.
