Could have massive implications imo - and plenty of Premiership teams will be worried about future income streams. There may be trouble ahead... http://news.sky.com/home/article/16082250 http://www.independent.co.uk/news/m...y-wins-premier-league-court-case-2365332.html
Good news in the fight to reclaim the game. But the implication may be that the top clubs now start to negotiate their own TV deals, whilst the rest scrat about with us.
Think it's a bad move. It'll either mean the Premier League selling pan-European rights, or clubs negotiating their own deals. It'll be interesting to see how many of the usual "keep the EU out of our business" folks support this move. First we had the Bosman ruling that had a detrimental effect on smaller clubs, now we have this ruling. So now broadcasting rights by country don't mean anything. This has implications far beyond football and sport.
The ruling is interesting. The landlady actually LOST her case. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/oct/04/premier-league-tv-coverage Individuals should be able to buy the service from wherever, but for a pub it is in breach of copyright.
Where? This ruling will just mean cheaper tv deals for the clubs while wages continue to go the other way. How will they make up for the loss? Charge more at grounds. So those who sit on their backside get football for cheaper, those who go to the games will pay more?
Not sure it will make a massive difference to their income, there doesn't seem to be that many pubs using official Sky, and home subscribers will not be wanting to pay the subscription for the rest of the stuff that will be in Greek,a lot of home users just find the match on the internet anyway....at least those who only want the sport.
but it sez at the end the UK high court is yet to decide her outcome so as such she may still win...I for one hope so too..time the grabbing *******s at Sky were taken down a peg.
