Jimmy Carr issuse a statement that he realise he was wrong, and pulls out of the scheme. Wonder how many will be doing the same thing on the QT as before they are noticed.

Is he gonna pay up retrospectively? Doubt it. Still a cheat, just one that's been caught out.

I agree with Ed Miliband on this - it isn't up to politicians to tell us what is morally right or wrong...it's up to them to alter legislation to make things like this illegal.

I can't believe Cameron and his cronies have even got the cheek to preach about this after the expenses scandal. If anyone rememebers correctly, I believe Cameron said that what some MP's did WAS illegal and immoral, but that an apology was all that was required.

I don't agree with people not paying their fair share in tax, but if you pay an accountant a good wage to find ways of boosting your income you are going to give him the freedom to do that. Like Jimmy Carr said, he was simply told "You can do this and pay less tax, and it's completely legal".

If I was told by a professional accountant that I could do the same, I would. If David Cameron decided to talk publicly about my tax situation I'd ask him how his parents tax-dodging trust fund worked out for him.

"Sorry I've done it" is a euphemism for "Sorry I've been caught".

Ahem, pretty much all MPs were guilty of abusing the expenses process, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if many of the worst offenders (in terms of sheer scale of the fraud) were Labour MPs.

If it had been up to me they'd all have been going to prison for what they did rather than a few convenient scapegoats - like everybody's favourite champagne socialist Eric Illsley.

Regarding the tax issue, the only answer is to simplify the system and close the loopholes, then no-one can do what Carr has done.

As Robert Peston said last night, Cameroon has given the journalists a free license to rigorously investigate the tax affairs of every member of his party. Hope his arse gets well and truly bitten.

Cameron's father built up his son's inheritance by dodging paying tax. Sending monies to Panama, Uganda and the like.
I ain't into politics, but I caught 5 minutes of Holly and Phil this morning and they said so.
