I think the new song is poor tbh. Certainly by Pulp standards. No surprise though. Different era, different line up. He used to write songs about being a misfit, because that's what he was. Now he's a very wealthy 60 year old bloke, with multiple properties in Paris & London. If he'd written an acoustic melody about a gite in France, it would probably be a lot better. His & Hers and Different Class remain two of my favourite albums though.

On another note - Stereolab's first album in 15 years announced this week. I have very high hopes!

Oh wow, nice one. Hopefully they'll come out on tour?

Stereolab? They're touring at the end of the year.

Heard Spike Island twice on radio last couple of days. 1st time i heard it, i thought very much Bowie style wise. Not a Pulp fan. (Although not a band I followed tbf) But i do actually like this.

Just listened to it and it’s OK.
I’d put it on par with things like Joyrider and Dogs are everywhere level. Decent album track but not a patch on the hits.

They're doing Project House in Leeds. Saw em at Trades Club a few years back and they were phenomenal. Probably in my top 10 bands.

There’s a special Sheffield version of the vinyl available pop pickers.

Never quite got Pulp. Enjoyed their genesis in the early 80s when I was living my best student life in Sheffield but they always struck me as a bit of a novelty band once they broke through.
