The West, up to and including The President of the USA: "The Malaysian Airways plane was shot down by a surface to air missile, fired either by Russian separatists, trained by the Russian Army, or the Russian Army themselves who have crossed the border in to Ukraine and are fighting alongside the rebel forces. The sophisticated weaponry was supplied by the Russian Army. We are now calling for a clear and transparent investigation to discover what happened."

Errrr, what the actual ****? Don't we usually conduct the investigation first and then announce the verdict, not the other way around? Don't get me wrong, I think it was the Russians too. I think we all do, don't we? But there's a massive difference between what we think and what we know for sure. If there was smoking gun evidence it would be all over the news, but the best they've got is footage of an anti-aircraft missile launcher driving down the road from **** knows where to Christ knows where else at god knows what date.

    Some things we do know:
The Ukrainian army have exactly the same surface to air missiles and they are positioned in the area.

The pro Russian rebels bragged about robbing one of these launchers on Twitter not long ago.

So, it could be Ukraine making an almighty **** up. Or it could be the rebels with no influence from Russia. The odds-on favourite is still the Russians, but the favourite doesn't always win. We should be pretty damn sure what happened before announcing it to the world because the repercussions from this could be huge for all of us.

Putin is a lovely person. What Russia is doing in Ukraine is outrageous and the west should be doing far more to protect Ukraine citizens and stop acting like a bunch jessies because Russia supplies Europe's gas. However, on the way the West has handled this tragedy, he's actually got a point.

Stop pointing fingers and saying what you think happened and find out what actually happened.

The USA intelligence along with Britain, can tell when you pick your nose Jay. They know exactly when and where the missile was fired. The Ukranians do not have the sort used. The Russians have dropped a bollock by letting gun go rebels run riot.
They will now deny any involvement, and you watch them withdraw their forces way back from the rebels. Then watch the rebels be isolated and abandoned, by withdrawing their military advisors and arms.
Putin is in deep ****, and the fun and games have back fired on him. Further embargoes are going to cripple his economy and he knows it.
He will not cut gas off to the West because he needs the income
The Question that bothers me is why commercial airlines were flying over that airspace in the first instance.
Should be interesting reading this next week.
Feel sorry for the victims and their families, some only young kids going on holiday.

All that security: scanners, bag checking, passport control, questions about where you are going and for what reason etc.

Then they fly you over a warzone at a height that makes it possible to be shot down at.

They deserve every lawsuit thrown at them.

    It is a tragedy certainly.

The truth is there has been a phoney war between the US & Russia going on for years now. Most of it is fought in Syria & Iraq, but it has extended to the Ukraine region too. Thousands of innocent people have died & millions displaced. A lot of stuff could come out in the open now western civilians have been killed, however there is a strong likelihood of a cover up.

I think that's what they'd like us to believe, but we went to war in Iraq over intelligence that said there were dozens of factories producing weapons of mass destruction along with huge stock piles, but all the intelligence was wrong. Every single bit of it.

They told the world they had such intelligence, or did they just need that lie to justify what they wanted to do in that region? What intelligence they have, what intelligence they say they have - two different things.

And their excellent satalite system that knows when we pick our nose still hasnt been able to find a plane which disappeared months ago.

Odd that they spent years lookin for bin laden using all tbis technology but didnt find him (until it turned out he was in his own house years later). Theyve soent months looking for a jet with no luxk at all. But now they can amazingly tell us who is to blame for this. Oh and that just happens to be the bad guys.

It reminds me of how quickly they announced whk the terrorist pilots were on 9/11 only for them to turn up alive and well.
