Think this was discussed last season & best was to get Victoria Line from Kings Cross to Oxford Circus and then Central Line to White City. Ground is about 5-10mins walk from there. The Tube 'journey planner' makes it about 25-30mins. Hope that's OK for you DB.

Got my mate working on it. So far the best option looks like about 35 quid there and back with two singles (which work out cheaper), 8:30 or so from Sheffield, gets to St Pancreas about three hours later. Then at 11:30 get ourselves over to west London somehow. There's probably a better option. We shall keep looking.

From Donny (£5 each way at time of buying) to Kings Cross. One tube ride on Hammersmith & City line to Shephards Bush I think . Easy as piss

I take it you booked months ago for such good prices lol. We are looking into Donny instead of Sheffield. It will add time from Sheffield to Donny (whatever that is). But from Donny to London cuts about 30-45 mins off the journey one way, compared to Sheffield.

rail tickets become available 12 weeks before journeys. SO you kow, CP away in March is already 21.50 minimum return and that is for late outward journey arriving in London as late as 2pm
