SD, PC, me and all other barnsley fans are frustrated by the lack of transfer activity this summer........ but as SD said for what ever reason the transfer market is slow this summer.

IMO its safe to say that our key targets are Hammill, Adam and Gray. All three players are still at there respective clubs and IMO are likley to move this summer. With SD's comments last week, I feel talks are at an advanced stage but for what ever reasons deals are being dragged out. I'm sure I read somewhere that we have agreed a deal for Andy Gray with Charlton, and he had been for a medical. Don't forget we are a small club finacially and perhaps banks are dragging there feet if loans are involved (I know that this is the case in many other industrys).

As for Charlie Adam and Adam Hammill, both are talented youngsters who play for big clubs who appear to be willing to let them move on yet they are keen to prove themselves. Perhaps they themselves are holding out in case situations change.

Big question is do we want SD & PC to hold out for their intended targets (frustrating that it may be), or look elsewhere. Its a tough one as deals may not happen, but at the same time if we panic buy, and deal is still on for intended target we then create a different problem. Its hard to be patient when start of the season is so close, but with limited resources we need to work hard to get quality in through the door. I still feel deals will happen, last thing I want is panic buys like Rigters.

SD has kept us waiting before in the transfer window, and just as we had given up hope he got his men! I seem to remember Mifsud deal took a long time to resolve, and former loan players have been keen to return permently such as Anderson, Macken and Steele. Hammill spoke well of his time here and so I hope same will happen.

Fingers crossed SD will get his men!

PS - we are not the only club that has been quiet so far, how many signings have Donny, Scunny, Reading, Palace etc made?

    Agree with the above except

it's more likely the players who are keeping SD waiting so he can't announce anything.

I'm not frustrated by the delays

Personally I think it is a side effect of a bit of realism appearing in football finances, at least I hope it is. Players looking to move on are probably going to have to take sizeable pay cuts, so they (understandably) dither around in the hope of a last minute better deal. It appears to be affecting loads of clubs not just us.

Agree with most of your post.

Palace have signed Stern John, Freddie Sears on loan and Darren Ambrose - some good additions there...
