    Great speech.

With a video posted by the guy who is having a go at him. Which makes him a smug, shameless, self-promoting t*at. Or 'politician' as I believe they're more commonly known.

    I like the way

his voice goes up a tone and he starts talking faster when he gets excited.</p>

Get him talking through a megaphone and he'd sound like a fookin Dalek :D

I suppose that makes him any different from the Gordon Brown that made sure the press were aware that he'd asked Jamie Oliver to cook for Obama whole he's here for the G20. You know, the Gordon Brown that said he wasn't star struck like the previous PM. At least this smug MEP was doing his job.

    I always liked Gordon Brown.

Not one of the Stranglers best efforts admittedly, but still better than most things in the charts.

Do you really think he is though

And that the recession would be better/worse under a different Labour leader/Tory leader/Lib Dem?

    Yes.

This recession is exacerbated in the UK by the amount of personal and national debt - an economy seemingly based on over inflated house prices and consumer spending on credit. - To solve it Gordon wants more of the same. Because he knows the alternative is to admit his profligacy with our money previously. The raids on pension surpluses, selling off gold reserves, all spent, all gone. There's nothing in reserve, and if the BoE refuses to print anymore money, Gordon's ******.

I think it's unilaterally accepted now, aside from by the Labour party obviously, that over spending during the growth years is why we're in such a poor financial position to get through the recession now. That and selling all our gold for next to **** all and swelling the public sector beyond comprehension, to the point where it's makes up approximately 70-80% of the total jobs created during the Labour years.

Other then that Brown was a great Chancellor, obviously and now he's running the Country telling us it's everyone else's fault and that he warned them.

What would we have done with the gold had we not sold it?

Could we have made a fort?

Yeah possibly. The gold reserves are basically your emergency bank account for bad times. During this downturn the value of gold has rocketed, if Brown sold reserves today, he could probably have sold a third of the amount and raised siginificantly more money from it. Brown decided to sell them off at its lowest ever value, for a laugh or something, when inflation was low and the economy was relatively healthy.

We need a new washing machine

It's very old and on its last legs. But we haven't bought one so I guess it's our fault.
