"Quandary - a state of perplexity or uncertainty over what to do in a difficult situation" Once again I have to ask for help from people on here, as I just can't decide what to do next weekend. My missus wants to spend most of Saturday in Covent Garden, and we've already booked a hotel there for Saturday and Sunday nights. The problem is, travel. We don't want to sit on a train with 9 million Fowls. So which of the following is best: - 1) Early train (6:50 Dodworth) on Saturday morning, leaving Sheffield at 7:40. Do you think this train will be full of Fowls? 2) Train from Donny Saturday morning, but worried that the Fowl pest may reach as far as there too. 3) Drive down Friday and stay over outside London somewhere where we can leave the car all weekend. Any recommendations? All suggestions welcome. By the way, if anyone found a flat cap in Dodeth Club last night, it's mine.
If your bothered about Fowls then avoid public transport. There will be plenty on both trains you mention.
You're probably right. I met a smug arrogant Wednesday fan in the pub last night in Dodeth pre-match. Usual stuff, we've got lots of fans, we should be in the Premier league as it's our rightful place, Europe in 3 years, well done Barnsley, nice to see tiny clubs getting their day in the limelight etc etc etc They're probably decent people in real life, but sitting in a train surrounded by them, listening to that crap for over 2 hours, would be purgatory.
In the end we went for "None of the Above". Train to Manchester on Friday, meal out with friends there, night in Travelodge, train to Euston next morning, back to Manchester on Monday. Not only that, I've got my flat cap back. Can life get any better?
As if you'll escape The Fowls by just hopping over the Pennines. Don't you realise how massive they are?
If it's an option get to Donny - trains quicker from there and you'll miss bulk of Wendys. The grand central ones are quite nice and usually cheap if booked in advance.
Yep, 'fraid so. I've known him for years, he's from Poggy, and he's a decent bloke when he doesn't talk about football. The funny thing is, last night he was commenting how much we all hate Leeds, because their fans are so deluded. The irony of a Fowls fan talking about deluded fans was lost on him.
Surely every train in the UK will be full of them, I wouldn't be surprised if there's not been additional trains put on and vehicles are being commandeered to accommodate them all. You may have to travel on the train roof like they do in India, you'll have 200,000 blue and white scarfs to hold on to.
You could just get the train that suits and have a good chat with your fellow passenger about what a good lark it is going to Wemberlee and that. And put to one side the shirt colour of their allegiance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know it sounds a bit childish, and believe me I've done that loads of times with fans of most clubs. However, living round here (Dodworth) I meet quite a few of them, and the conversation is not just about football. It's usually about how small we are and how big they are. I can stomach it for a few minutes in a pub, but I don't fancy 2 and a half hours in a carriage with them. Anyway it's sorted now.
