I'm sure the England colours have nothing to do with Great Britain

I would have actually thought that they are used to match the colours of the 3 lions.

I've just been looking on Google

And all I can find is a bit about the England Rugby team. The white shirts and shorts have nothing at all to do with flags or anything like that.

The white shirts and shorts were due to it being easier to boil wash the kits. I would assume that as football and Rubgy split after the days at Rugby college this is the true reason why the shirts are White.

Maybe the Football selected blue shorts to be different from the Rugby team??? But that is a wild stab in the dark.

And the 3 lions come from....

the Three Lions came into existence through the reign of Richard I, the Lionheart, around the turn of the twelfth century, as the official Royal Coat of Arms of England, and remained so for the next 140 years.
