    Why say that we are interested in him - surely this will only motivate other clubs to look at him and bid against us and therefore increase his contract demands?

    That'll happen anyway if he's got an agent worth his salt. I'd like to see Barnsley sign one very good prospect or established player. I think every team needs one outstanding player to inspire the others. Not sure if we have one at the moment.

    A cunning plan from Ritchie to alert Ridsdale and fool

    him into buying Johnson at over-inflated wages while we home in on our real, as yet un-named target.

    When I say un-named, he will have a name obviously but we just haven't been told it yet cos it's secret.

    If we said we were trying to bring Clint Marcelle out of retirment he would probably end up at Cardiff, got to save money somwhere might aswell be scouting.
