If two players jump for a ball and one ends up on the floor clutching his face, which FIFA ruling would result in a yellow card being given to the person commiting the foul?

I'm trying to work out what the referee will have told his superiors (via his report) is the reason that morgan recieved a yellow card.

    From the FIFA website.

now obviously it wasn't number 4,5,6 or 7. He hadn't been persistently fouling and the ref didnt point out several fouls like they normally do so point 3 is gone so that leaves either dissent (in which case the foul itself went unpunished and thus can be investigated by the FA) or for 'unsporting behaviour' which just doesnt seem to fit in with what happened. Also unsporting behaviour isn't an elbow so again the elbow was missed by the ref and can be investigated by the FA.

Now lets look at the red card offenses...

[/quote]
Points one or two covers this exactly, either violent conduct (ifthe refthinks itwas deliberate) or serious foul play if he didnt.

The FA HAVE to investigate it as I can see no possible FIFA ruling that the Referee can have used that would allow him to book Morgan for that challenge, ie he did NOT take action on the elbow, he obviously booked him for something else. Or he's making things up in his match report and has logged a false reason for a booking but I can't imagine that.

As a qualififed ref i believe he woud have done it by...

On the standard caution frm that is completed by a referee when aplayer is cautioned he would have entered it for unsporting behaviour.

then on the form there is a box that expands on this and 1 of the options is foul tacle, whihc i believe is what he willhave done.

I believe he should have been sent offf anyway.

Just 1 point, the way I have been taught is, if he had been sent off it would have been for serous foul play, because the ball was involved and not violent conduct, that is genrally reserved for when the ball is involved.
