:D

Every time it p155es it down, Sky goes all ****** - stuttering pics to start with followed by a full freeze. Is it part of Sky life or is there something I can do about it.

Also, did someone post a link on how to effectively defrag the box ?

    Cheers in advance

    That ones easy.....

I am thinking that you had your system fitted by a third party and not directly by SKY? The reason I say this is that the 3rd party engineers use standard electrical tape. and not the more expensive weather proof tape that the SKY lads use.

    Really ?

You may be right - the dish was in long before we moved in so I don't know. By tape, I guess you mean around the co-ax connection where the cable leaves the dish ?

We did get Sky in to check it last year when we lost sound and vision entirely. Had to pay cos the "box" was out of warranty, which upset me as the problem was with the dish in the end, not the box. Maybe I should have asked him to check this tape too ?

    RE: Really ?

I had that problem and it was fixed by having a new receiver thingy put on the dish. No problems now.

In really bad weather, particularly electrical storms, you can lose the signal, but should only be a rare occurrence.
My original Sky Digital (prior to getting Sky+) was fitted by Sky and I kept having that problem when rain wasn't particularly bad. The whilst having repairs to the roof done they knocked the dish, so I got an independent bloke to come and realign, and he spotted that there wasn't a waterproof cover over the LNB, he fitted one for me (for nowt) and it was fine after that!
