just wondered how criticism of davey compares to previous managers. did ritchie, hart, thordeson etc get loads of stick as well? i know davey is unpopular but i get the sense some on here are never happy. only been reading message board over last year or so. just wondered like

They've all got stick at various times...

however Davey was an unpopular appointment. Football fans are more demanding than then they used to be. Davey's also been a long term appointment in the current cliamate wheras in the past 3 years was no time at all.

yeah pretty much mate, its par for the course!

Maybe Gudjon not as much and possibly not Ritchie. Gudjon came on the board when he left to leave a thank you message which went down very well.

    Hart was absolutely awful

He did my trough in, was like interviewing a brick wall.

Thordarson did well initially when we went into administration but then was more negative than an electron.

If people think Davey's negative, try Lee Crooks and Garry Monk in central midfield.

Every manager will get stick, even Fergie's had loads and got more today. If his 'senior' players hadn't missed their penalties he would have got away with playing the youngsters.

    So in summary

Probably similar to Hart and a bit more than Gudjon who lived slightly on his time when we nearly went bust.

All Barnsley managers have taken stick from the fans

Whilst I've been watching them, with the probable exception of Allan Clarke the first time round.

    thought so

think daveys first two seasons should be viewed as a success. this season has been very poor and some of his decisions baffling but criticism on this board is OTT to say the least. just curious to see if he was disliked more than previous managers or if people just like to moan

    Parkin got stick.

For being totally yowsless. Spackman got stick, which was polarised cos a lot of the fans WANTED him to be appointed and the way it turned out left a nasty taste.

The present totally inept, tactically naive, arrogant, certificate branding, "I beat Liverpool and Chelsea on my own, dontcha know", toilet of a clowncurrently in the hotseat generates a lot of vitriol.

I liked Norman Hunter though :)

*Ahem* Should have replied to Liverpool Red

I remember him getting a 'Hunter Out' poster thrown into the dugout. Think we lost 3-2 to Cardiff that day. He tore it up and shouted abuse back. He was sacked the next day. Lesson no 1: Never fall out with the supporters.

yep they do mate, but take it with a pinch of salt.

Also, not sure if you can remember this far back but Danny Wilson was hated with a passion by large sections of our support as a player and thus also when appointed as manager...

They were both interviewed during a match

Brother in law was a steward at the time and had to smuggle them both into the board room

Yes they have all got some stick and abuse although none that i can recall got anything close to what Davey is getting. I suspect it was becuase he repalced a popualr manager who was playing attacking attractive football compared to the Davey style
