My mate just rang me asking about who owns what at Oakwell. He believes that BFC own the ground and training facilities and the council own the car parks.I was told last year that BFC had paid the council back what they invested but I genuinely don't know what the state of play is at the moment. Can any one enlighten me.?
Neither is true. The whole lot is owned by oakwell communities assets limited and that company is owned 50/50 between Patrick cryne and the council. The club pay rent for the use of oakwell (all of the complex). Patrick doesn't own certain areas and the council own others, the company oakwell community assets owns it all and Patrick is a 50% shareholder in that company so he owns 50% of it all but it isn't a specific 50% any more than somebody who owns shares in Tesco can say that they own the crisp aisle and their mate owns the dvd section.
I've seen it mentioned a few times that Patrick's 50% is the 'important bit' or 'the green part's etc where people seem certain that he owns certain areas of the land when in reality he is a shareholder of the company. If I was owning Tesco aisles I'd own the vegetable aisle so I could stand next to the cucumbers and wink at every woman buying one.
Just when I started to think you must be a reasoned and erudite gentleman, you drop a bit of sexual inuendo into our discourse. On the Sabbath aswell....shame on you sir, shame.
What sexual innuendo is that? I just like winking at people who I know are going to be eating salads later. I am shocked that you thought I meant anything else. You dirty minded person you.
By BFC i assume by extension you mean Patrick Cryne? He owns 50% of the holding company. So he owns half the stadium, half of the car park half of the academy and training facilities. half of EVERYTHING.
Yes. And? Barnsley Football Club 2002 Limited do not own any of the land assets. It matters not that Patrick owns 50% of the company that does own the land. There is no holding company
That's right. The stake of the whole of the land holding at Oakwell is 50/50 so no one in the future can buy the club and then level the ground etc and build something like an housing estate on the land. Again something we have to be very thankful to Patrick Cryne for.
One thing that I don't understand about that argument and reasoning is that nobody can buy the club anyway without Patrick selling it
Where does oakwell holdings fit in to things? Is it that oakwell holdings is the company that owned 50% of oakwell community assets ltd? Or does oakwell holdings rent the ground from oakwell community assets ltd?
