If I want to meet up with someone at an M1 service area next Sunday rather than travel into Barnsley does anybody know if it costs money to park there, say from 8am to whenever we get back there later that night.
Do any of the services allow free parking, or free on a Sunday, or do you know which services may be free whilst others aren't.
    Help please.

I think most are only free for the first 2 hours. No idea where you can find out for sure, just going from memory of the various signs that you see posted there.

You wuld be better off meeting near a motorway junction.

and parking there. Quite a few junctions of the M1 have connecting roads suitable laybys in which to park
