I believe we all are aiming higher, ie Premiership primarily or doing our best to get there

That said if and when we get a good run and MAINTAIN it what would our expected home game attendance be ?

If we wait till that occurs will we have enogh room if we dont expand now when our attendances are low .

If we wait until that occurs and attendance gets to capacity, where will we put all those new fans when we decide we do need to expand, cause the west stand just isnt acceptable ?

I can see the logic in building now . ????

    Constructive critics please ??

Without a big benefactor , we would need 30K stadium upwards to have any chance of consistently finish outside the bottom 3.

I hope we can make it to yoyo club status.

Someone said it was a false economy not re building the West Stand

as it's taking so much money to keep the stand up to safety standards every year, throwing money away.

I don't think it's anything to do with increasing capacity.

    I agree with you.

When we built the East standit was called 'the white elephant stand' by some. It it hadn't been built how would we have gone on when promoted to the prem ?

If we do it now it will probably be the last major development at Oakwell for 50 years.

There are many things you can say about BFC, but to say that they've embraced 'shiny consumerism' is not one of them.

    I agree I'm being all misty eyed - and I'm only 26!

On another tact though, I do think its a difficult one. The grounds already half empty and given the size of the town and club we are punching above our weight. However, if we did ever go up again it would be too small but for how long would that be. And could we get up without spending the money it would cost on players - really tricky one

    Where will I sit though

My first ever visit to Oakwell back in 1970/71 season I set in the West Stand with my dad. As I grew up spent most of my time standing in the Old Brewery Stand with occasional forays into the Ponty
The when the East was redeveloped I moved back the the West where I have been ever since

If we redevelop the West Stand I am going to have to find a new seat!

It's hardly Chelsea Village though is it. They've not even embraced e-marketing yet, in fact they probably think that's drug dealing.

if we redevelop the west stand like Farnham_Red our seats will be snapped up by the fans wanting a good view in the new stand, atm we get the same awesome seats season after season about 8 rows back from the dugouts lower tier obv lol best seats in oakwell imo no obstructions only thing is you get drenched when it rains but whats it matter in the grand scheme?

Yes I wonder how they would do it

There are 8 of us in a row with great seats in the West Upper near the half way line

Obviously when the stand was being redeveloped we are going to have to sit somewhere else - Dont know the numbers but I suspect there arent much over 500 ST holders in the Stand so we could easily fit in the East for a seaon - though not in as good seats as I think the ones by the halfway line are taken or reserved for exec.

When the new stand was opened would we get first dibs on the new seats - or even allocated seats equivalent to the ones we had or will we have to queue up overnight to try to get decent seats in a free for all?

I sit in the west stand and I got wet through on Tuesday night. If we are refurbishing I would love to see the teams enter the field on the halfway line. As on Tuesday night it must be very intimidating for our players to walk off at half time and to a certain extent after warm up. I doubt this will happen because our current changing facilities are excellent. Any views.

absolutely...I am a trditionalist...entry at the Half way line is better

they could have a main dressing room etc as it is but just have the initial entry point and half time talk/treatment rooms on the half way line...and notice how when in need of treatment (stitches for example) they allus head up that tunnel... walkway round to that point is surely not a massive piece of rocket science

RE: Yes I wonder how they would do it

My thoughts / fears exactly. With some of the ***** displays over recent years, keeping my excellent spot for the good times has been a major factor in renewing my season ticket.
Where would the money come from to build it? Will it be the Heinz Muller / Brian Howard stand? To go with the Ashley Ward north stand and Carl Tiler / Steve Agnew east stand, alongside the John Beresford floodlights. I can't remember selling anyone for the Ponty end.
I don't think we need anything too big, something like the new stand Preston are building would be enough, but with a roof that will overhang enough to keep you dry when it rains. And with seats as generously proportioned as Wembley's for my fat arse to fit on.
