Just got back earlier than turnbull dove for the penalties! Will do a full report tomor after ive calmed down, after witnessing yet another truly woeful performance and tactics. Dont let our two great goals fool you, we were garbage. Danny is very much under performing so far
Dont get distracted by facts, some people can`t wait for Wilson to get the sack. He was disappointed about Saturdays match too !
We drew 2-2 with an in form side, 7 games unbeaten, at their ground. From 2-0 down and playing poorly. I'm taking the positives from that, remaining patient and looking forward with hope.
I was there tonight. I am a Wilson fan-believer. We were poor at best. 2 shots, 2 goals. Woeful defending. Stray passing aplenty. No momentum (except for 10-15 mins int second half. They should have been 4/5 up in the first half. Toyed with us and if on tonite you had to select a top6/bottom6 then it'd be easy to pick. Too much ball watching, non commitment in challenging, standing off, etc etc. 2 cracking goals. 2 poor pens. They scored 4 beauty's and the missed one was going in the bottom corner. Nyantanga and Brown.... don't get me started, especially the former. Only stand outs today really Turnbull(few saves) Winnall (never stopped but isn't a target man) Cole (looked good when came on). Some average performers scattered amongst the other Reds. Still think DW has a clue on what constitutes his best, most effective X1.
It's the standing off that frustrates me. We don't get close to them, and every team that's played well against us has done it by continually running at us or through us. Give any team, at any level, the time and space that we do and they'll get fhanxe after chance. Cole made a big difference when he came on. And Oldham's as cold as its always been.
A pen that hits the bar is poor in my eyes. Yeah it's only inches. But you've the full net to hit. Hit the post/bar when the only pre requisite is to hit the target deems it poor.
Couldn't agree more. We could have been 4/5-0 down at half time. Defence **** themselves every time an opposing player runs at them, midfield devoid of putting a challenge in. Admittedly we did look better in the second half, was hoping we would push on after the first goal, but it never really seemed to happen. It's quite frightening how quickly it takes the opposition to pick the ball up around the centre circle and getting to the edge of our box unopposed and seemingly being invited to shoot/cross. We need to toughen up and fast! A lot of our players don't seem to want to put a challenge in for some reason. Just for the record I don't want Wilson sacked.
Agree with all of that pretty much. Turnbull was poor for the second goal though. Amazing to come back from 2-0 down, but we were absolutely dire. We can't even do basic things right. Passing etc. Not sure what Wilson tells them tbh. I do hope and think it was a half hearted effort from us tonight. With one eye playing on TV on Sunday.
The problem is though Oldham could have been at least five up at half time, they continually got behind our defence with no-one willing to make a challenge. Definitely a game of two halves like but there are some serious flaws in either the way the players are told to defend, or their defending full stop.
For me, it's a poor penalty when the striker doesn't hit the target from 12 yards out. Obviously he was only a couple of inches off scoring but from 12 yards out I'm disappointed when a player doesn't score. That said I'm not too fussed anyway, get the disappointment out of the way and onto the next one.
Lets move on to what really matters League 1 Same result as at Rochdale will do nicely to show we are progressing
