By payment plan I mean an interest free way to spread payments over a longer period of time rather than having to pay the lot in one go.</p>

Shouldn't the last option just say 'I am vermin'?

    I'm a 'd'.

I love these 'better finance package than you' threads...

ps, Not an attempt to claim anyone is a 'real fan' or anyone isnt

Merely interested to know what difference a payment plan would actually mean to people. ie How many extra season ticket's it would mean selling.

I will be renewing mine no matter what. But it would be nice if we could spread the cost out a bit instead of parting with £300 in one payment.

damn you, if you'd posted that a few minutes earlier I could have stuck my ps post here.

Obviously people have lots of reasons not to get season tickets (work etc) and for a lot of people a payment plan wouldnt help (though a payment plan as well as cheaper tickets may).

It would be nice but from a business point of view it makes no sense to offer it if the only people taking the offer up are those that would have paid up front anyway.

Yeah I think the bottom one covers you. ie, you are a fan but a payment plan (on its own) wouldn't be enough to convince you to get one (for whatever reason).

    Payment Plans Are Pretty Stupid

People are grown up enough to save so much a week over the year, so that they have the money for when it's needed. If a payment plan got started you run the risk of the season being nearly over before some have paid up.

    Grown ups pay mortgages

And for their cars, to feed their kids, etc.

It's not a case of being big enough, ugly enough, and stupid enough to save up.

RE: ps, Not an attempt to claim anyone is a 'real fan' or anyone isnt

Having been a student for the past four years and having just secured a 2 year contract with a company I can, for the first time, afford a season ticket. The payment plan ill make no difference to me, I'll be getting an ST whether in Div 1 or 2. . . and enough of this real fan rubbish on here, some people are fans, but can't afford to go week in week out!

In the real world it doesn't work like that dreamboy

For me and I presume you it is easy to set money aside (presume you work and live at home, ie no mortgage, bills etc, only board/rent).

Out of interest, say I had to save up at a rate of £10 a week, and I was going to pay for a season ticket in july, how many games do you think I would have been able to attend this season?

to be fair mate, a payment plan would help out a lot of people - OK £300 is probably just about manageable to a household, but still it is a lot of money. But, when you consider some households will be paying for maybe 2,3 or 4 season tickets then it becomes an issue I think.

As others have said, mortgages, cars etc don't come cheap!

Aye I see what you're saying bud. This poll doesn't seem to support bringing in an installment plan. Interesting..... An adult season ticket works out at about 6-7 quid per week over the year, which is only like two or three less pints. It's not that much. Obviously it's different for those not able to afford a drink in the first place due to more important matters.

I see what you're saying and in a way you are right, it's not much over the course of a year. But the thing is in order to do that then you have to save up a year in advance. If money is tight then in order to afford to pay up front for the 09/10 year a fan would have to save up throughout the 08/09 which means losing that fan for a year. With a payment plan the fan can pay for the 08/09 season while watching it and the 09/10 season whilst watching that too.

Think of it like buying a new car, yes you could save up £5 a week for 5 years and buy a new car but garages don't expect you to do that, they let you take the car and pay it off over 5 years instead

You are sort of on track there

The advantage to the club with season tickets is that they get the money up front, if the club offer a savings plan then they don't get the money up front, so the advantage to them is gone and it's no different to having someone pay on the day.
