at my mum's and she's got the google toolbar on her menu bar

I've deleted it 'cos it's got a bloody annoying pop-up blocker.

but thing is, I've deleted it (removed from programmes) but the blocker is still seemingly active...

    how can I stop it?

    any ideas??

    TIA

    Probably . . .

Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs

then select to remove it from the list.

Or is that what you've already done?

    aye

    that's what I've already done.

the google toolbar has disappeared and I've removed it from the programme listing.

when I log onto a website with popups (moneysupermarket for eg) there's an annoyingly loud noise sounds and there's a little icon at the bottom right with an exclamation mark... but when I put the cursor on it, it says 'turn popup blocker on' and 'popup blocker settings' but that's greyed out (goes black when I turn it back on) and I've knocked off the 'play a sound' setting but it's still doing it..

    I'm baffled...

    RE: aye

    Start>Run type MSCONFIG click OK.

    Startup tab

Look for it in there, untick the box, apply, ok & reboot.

That will kill it - only if it shows in there though.

Are you sure it's the google pop-up blocker

Could it be the IE one? Tools->Internet Options, Privacy Tab, options at bottom.

I was thinking what BR suggested.

That maybe it's not linked to the Google toolbar. If you're sure it is why don't you reinstall the toolbar and then open the Toolbar Options window and clear the checkbox next to pop-up blocker in the Accessories section then remove the toolbar again?

Otherwise you ight have to scour Program Files for it. HijackThis is good for rooting things out but be careful what you delete.

One question, does the cursor momentarily chnage when it blocks something?

    It's not that I don't trust you

I just wanted to make sure there was no ambiguity about what you had or hadn't done. And that I don't trust you.

    Good luck.

I think the Google one changes the cursor.

    Sounds like it's something else.
