Falcogon "Barry" Barricade 23/07/93 - 08/09/06
My mother called me yesterday and told me the bad news - our poor old Barry, my favourite dog on the planet, had died during the night. I can't believe it really, he has been there for the last 13 years and now he's gone. So many good memories (well, also bad ones, but they're just quite funny to think about now) that I'll never forget... So fare thee well Barry, you crazy super furry animal, you'll be missed.
tribute to Barry (sightly adapted) When I was lad Old Barry was a pup, over hills & meadows we'd stray Just a boy & his dog we were both full of fun, we grew up together that way. I remember the time at the old swimming hole, when I would've drowned beyond doubt But old Barry was there to the rescue he came, he jumped in & then pulled me out As the years fast did roll, Barry grew old, his eyes were fast-growing dim One day the vet looked at me & said, I can't do no more for him Jim (Tomi) With Hands that were trembling I picked up my gun & aimed it at Barry's faithful head I had shot the best friend that man ever had I wish they would shoot Tomi Instead If dogs have a Heaven, theirs one thing I know, Old Barry has a wonderful home. (angel) Hope this cheers you uo Tomi, In case you didn't know this was slightly adapted from the Elvis Presley Song Old Shep
R.I.P. Barry - bless his fuzzy heart Just remember though, he's up there now sharing a bowl of kibbles and cold water with mi beloved Cherie my old french poodle. She always did go for the German ones...had a lovely dachsund named Fritz she flirted with too...always was a tart. Bones to chew and sticks to chase aplenty for Barry now.
Thanks everyone I came back home for the weekend this morning, and it's a bit strange that it's so quiet here now when Barry is gone. He was always so eager for company and wanted to be where everyone else was. There's another (much younger) German shepherd in the family too, but he's just sleeping most of the time, unlike Barry who was always going somewhere or guarding the house from all the (usually imaginary ff) intruders. Barry was a true friend and he won't be forgotten. Thanks again for your messages everyone.
