People who aren't even a fan of that genre can still appreciate Ace Of Spades. The Game song he did for Triple H is one of the best wrestling theme songs ever.
Never knew he was in Hawkwind. I was a fan of theirs early 70s without knowing the lineup. Saw them at York around 1971 or 72 just by chance. I was stationed a few miles up the road at Linton on Ouse and heard on the day that they were on at a college hall somewhere in the city and I just pitched up and watched them from the side windows. Loud doesn't cover it! Silver Machine at top volume. Even outside it made my ears ring!
In my youth in the seventies I went to see motorhead at the City Hall, got there a bit early and Lemmy was on stage checking his gear. There was a crush at the front of the stage as a few of his keenest fans tried to talk to him. He came over to the front, knelt down and joked with folks as he signed his autograph. Never one to miss out, I jostled to the front and was wedged in unable to move my arm out of the way whilst his lit *** gently sizzled against my wrist, as he signed my programme. My liking for motorheads music has long gone, but when I occasionally spot that white dot on my arm it takes me back to my denim clad teens and reminds me of a man who lived his life like a true rock and roller and I can't fault him for that. RIP Lemmy
RIP Lemmy. I was never a fan but I did like Ace of Spades at the time and remember them on The Young Ones singing it. Silver Machine is also a great rock song.
My favouritist Lemmy moment. I'm not a Hawkwind fan, but I ******* love this: Wish they'd sing 'Everywhere we go' to that tune instead of the one that's been prevalent at football games for the last couple of years.
You've got me going now Jay. Listened to that - lovely stuff. Now listening to Time We Left This World Today from Doremi Fasol Latido. The only Hawkwind album I ever bought, on vinyl. Sadly gone along with my other LPs but I had the good sense to transfer all of it onto my PC first. Classic rock It's a long one but keep gong. That transition at 3 min 40 sec and beyond is just mind blowing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5SRYtPLDLI
Saw Motorhead at Leeds Queens Hall early 80's...came out and couldn't hear a Feckin thing...Got a couple of albums, although not my fave band Lemmy was a True Rocker.....RIP.
Certainly not Lemmy's biggest fan but a sad day....RIP Mr Kilmister Anyone preferring the accoustic Ace of Spades to the electric version? - or for that matter Whorehouse Blues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjkzbCkZEuQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0sik4yZHY8
