http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/8353733.stm Apparently the death of his daughter two years ago and a "mysterious illness" that had been troubling her lately were too much for him. He was just 32 and about to become Germany's number one goalkeeper as well... very sad news. (RIP)
RE: RIP, a very sad tale. nt It's very sad, however my mates a train driver and has had a couple of people walk in front of his train, something he has to live with, which is not very nice. People that wish to take their own life should not involve others. Just a thought like.
RE: RIP, a very sad tale. nt True, it must affect the driver. I was on a train from Amsterdam to Cologne during the 2006 World Cup and we had a "jumper" delayed for 45 minutes. We run out of beer on the train, cant beleive how inconsiderate some folk are (pint) (pint)
Sad about the goalkeeper though, saddder about his daughter

Depression is a truly horrible illness and anyone who suffers from it or who has suffered from it will know and recognise that black pit of despair where there seems to be no hope and no point in going on. Sadly it's 'not recognised' as an illness in many workplaces and that makes it even harder for the sufferer to return to work after recovery as they are often subject to 'cold shoulders' and unfeeling comments and a total lack of understanding and empathy. It's an illness and should be treated as such. Some sufferers will never be cured, others can make a life for themselves with the help and support of their families and appropriate medication. However the illness is always there, lurking. It's a very tragic story and his widow must be devastated.
