Firstly, I haven't had a winner all week.

Now thats out of the way, I really fancy Who Dares Wins in the Chester Cup at 2.45. Drawn nicely in stall 3, has great form in previous renewals of the race, has experience in winning big field handicaps, won't mind the ground and is from a yard that does well at this meeting. 12s is a great price.

    Any more for any more?

I’ve already had 5 different tips in just this one race. Racing has been savage recently. I’m still my wounds from Punchestown and Newmarket.

I missed out on 1000 guineas winner because I had a domestic with Laura and she'd kicked me out again without my smart phone. I'd already backed Santa Barbara to win but wanted to back Mother Earth e/w but couldn't get the bet on.

I was on Almigwhar at 10/1 but he wasn't declared, despite being ahead of the handicapper. My shortlist now is Not So Sleepy, Glenarm Glory and Rochester House. But I'd be keener on Elysian Flame in the consolation race (4.20).

I managed to back Mother Earth, but it was my only winner of the weekend.

Punchestown was an unmitigated disaster though.

My son, daughter-in-law & grandchildren live next to Chester Racecourse, at the other side of the railway lines.
    I know it doesn't help, but I thought I'd mention it. :D

I went over that viaduct when I went trainspotting in Crewe whilst I was on holiday in Rhyl :)

The racecourse is a wonderful place for a family picnic and they have the River Dee at the other side which enables them to see some of the local wildlife.

Falcon Flight because the Irish are always trying to crack the race with a fancied runner. Eventually one will drop in. Trumpet Man just because I backed it at Musselburgh and it wasn't given a hard time once beaten. I might be putting two and two together and getting five but I thought it was being saved for something else.

I love Chester, it's my favourite city. There's nothing better than having a family picnic, cuddling your Grandchildren and watching the swans swim lazily by on the river

Eating strawberries in the centre of the track with the sun shining while the racing is on was pretty good. Backing Not So Sleepy and Rochester House as I can't decide between them ;) Had a couple of winners so far but a bit down on the week but as I only bet what I can afford I'm ok with that

I also have a 3000th share of a horse running in the 12.30 at Market Rasen, a horse called Gold Link with the Owners Group. Jumped like a crab last time , the phrase 'not fluent' is being too kind ;) Hopefully he'll have learned from that but fancy a couple in front of him at least. Only a bit of fun and a bit different from when I had twelfth shares back in the 80s/90s

Anybody backed owt at Ascot. That looks a decent card too. Although I'm sure the Victoria Cup meeting used to be an evening meeting on the Friday and Lingfield used to be a two day meeting?

Apart from that I have no firm selections. Too dodgy!
    Good luck one and all.

No. I was 12 on a family holiday to North Wales. My Dad bought a rail rover for the week and took me to Crewe on one of the days. Laura's kicked me out regularly over the years. The more trivial the row, the more severe the punishment lol :D

There's a very likely-looking son of Dubawi debuting in the 1.55 for Buick/Appleby (currently 11/4) and I like Aldary in the 3.00, although he's only 5/4 now.

Emma Lavelle says that she is very happy with Gold Link and she hopes that he will be able to build on his promising second place at Wincanton at the end of March. Emma says that she is hopeful that Gold Link will run well and finish in the frame.

Our view: Former useful Flat horse Seinesational has run with promise on both starts over hurdles, and he should be there or thereabouts. Bumper (Flat race for Jumps horses) winner, Restandbethankful, finished a solid second on his hurdles debut at Newbury back in December, and connections will be hoping that he can go one better here on this sounder surface. Design Icon has been well beaten on both starts over hurdles, and bumper winner Tardree was also unable to trouble the judge on his only start over hurdles to date, on soft ground at Catterick in December.

Gold Link ran very well at Wincanton last time (to finish second) and although his jumping was not fluent at times, the wind operation he had in the winter seemed to have a positive effect, as he finished his race off well. We hope that the ground at Market Rasen (currently good) will suit Gold Link, and we feel that if he jumps well, he has a fair chance of going one better, with a bit of luck.
Seems like they are thinking along the same lines as me ;)
