Will be my choice for following the game tonight. I think it's disgusting that a World Cup Qualifier, albeit one that ultimately is of no real consequence to us, can only be watched via an internet link or visiting an Odeon cinema. Personally I think everyone should boycott watching this match so that no one tries to pull a stunt like this again.
Remember There might be some highlights on tonight. Could be on the BBC. After the late news, for example.
I don't see the problem with people having to pay for it. Anyway it's a meaningless match with nothing riding on it for us. Wish we had a match today instead.
I wont be paying either It will either be radio 5 live or if I can find a good enough free stream on a foreign website
I don't have a problem with paying for it I pay to watch football on Sky after all. What I have a problem with is that it's only available to watch live via the internet. Hopefully very few people will subscribe & the broadcast will be beset by so many problems that it never gets tried again.
RE: I don't have a problem with paying for it Possibly the future. US leagues have embraced the internet, where you can watch any game live online, I've tried it on the occasional free-view weekends that they've done and it's not bad....the price they charge for the season isn't bad either when you compare to subscription prices for sports channels. But at the moment I see your point, people have subscribed to Sky Sports and ESPN and are now being expected to shell out more for this game which doesn't really mean owt - actually had England still needed a win then I reckon it would have got picked up.
I thnk we are having to pay because it IS meaningless Had anything been riding on this, BBC or ITV (or even FIVE) would almost certainly have made a decent bid. As it was, there were no serious takers. It's no big loss IMHO....
A friend of mine from Canada pays for all the Ice Hockey games every season It's a superb concept, especially for something in the region of about £100 for the season. He gets to watch whichever game he wants to through ESPN, similar to football first on sky but live. Also gets a choice of English or French Canadian commentary for the Montreal games. Would have no issue with shelling out that for 46 Barnsley games a season.
I agree that this actual game is no big loss But I would hate to think that in the future, if I want to watch a football match from the comfort of my own living room, the only way I could do it is via a computer screen. If tonights broadcast is seen as any sort of success, I think that a lot more will go the same way.
I dont get the upset of watching on the net Its the way forward. No issues with that. I do have issues with ahving to pay but thats life I guess To blame are the bbc and ITV for prefering Strictly Scum Dance and Pikey Factor to the nations game
RE: I agree that this actual game is no big loss I think the idea in future would be that you connect your TV to your computer, of course it requires better quality video via the computer, but many of the new TV's can be connected to a computer.
I think its quite an important game Capello wants a 100% record, will likely field a full strength side and Ukraine will certainly be up for it given they could potentially still qualify Might be the last chance to see our strongest side until the World cup.
'Official' stream is good quality so far ... ... got ito on now. Maximised to my 22in monitor it suffers a bit but perfectly watchable
RE: 'Official' stream is good quality so far ... Yep, very good stream but i want full screen. How you do that? Maximise page and only get it in the corner
RE: Click the black/white button to left of the '?' button below the video nt Soz to be thick, but which "?"?. The video in the betting page or when gone into live streaming?
In the live streaming ... I'm watching mine via the ukrainevengland.co.uk website tho, I'm assuming the Bet365 setup is the same
