Starts on 28th June. Don't fancy Algeria's chances once that kicks in. Quite a few big name players from non Muslim countries could be affected too. There goes my top scorer bet on Benzema...

Sun sets about 5:15 in Rio so they might not be too badly affected.

15 hours of daylight and 30 degree temperatures... They'll be lucky to survive, let alone put in a winning performance,

They get dispensation not to fast. Obviously.

Yet many still choose to fast. Or I wouldn't have mentioned it. Obviously.

I'm genuinely surprised at that. Do you know how many of the Algeria team have chosen to fast?

No idea. In Germany, a couple of Muslim players were suspended for not even telling the manager they were fasting!

At the 1982 World Cup most of the Kuwait team chose to fast and England still only beat them 1-0. I reckon even Rooney and co would do better than that.
