As lagers go, Taddy is a very good one. It's one of the few that would make me choose lager over an ale, but if Sam Smiths had a Farmer's blonde or Barnsley Gold on draught, I'd choose that.
Beer, John Smiths smooth, always consistent. I've had some horrible real ales. I'm a bit of a peasant really.
Having a swift bottle of Sam Smiths organic lager in the very dodgy Brown Bear in Shitfailed and it's reight nice.
Much prefer a dark beer like Theakston's Best or Old Peculiar or a porter. Not keen on the lighter, hoppy real ales.
Purely personal view, but I've always found the "real ale" scene to be a right load of crap. By definition, such brews are made in small quantities, and in my experience, have therefore been inconsistent, to say the least. I like darker beers (De Koninck's, Leffe Brun, or the occasional pint of Guiness - yes, I know, technically stout). But my great preference is for Leffe Blonde. If pressed to 'ordinary' beers, I prefer John's, being a darker bitter. But I find it lacks punch for anything but the occasional pint. Nah then.
Why do I get the feeling of a spelling mistake ! Oh well doesn't stop me drinking lager ( see I did it )
John Smith's hand pulled cask is nectar. Used to have it in the Miners Rest at Old Town. Sneaking an extra one in often cost me a missed kick-off and a fee trips to the West Stand Bogs. Major compensation of leaving Tarn for Yarm is a Sam Smith's house down the road. Bitters and lagers both good . Bitter a bit too cold but at £1.80 a pint I'm not complaining.
