Throw the coffee away and just drink the milk :)

Horrible stuff that stinks vile. Can't even get it close enough to my mouth to ever taste it.

Milk, sugar and coffee in first, leave for a few seconds then add the boiling water.

This thread appears to be about the granulated stuff sold in jars.

I'd like it on record that this is NOT coffee and the order you put them in your cup to make it is not really important. It will taste crap regardless.

For clarity, I add a double espresso to ~150 ml of steamed milk (taking care not to let it boil) for coffee.

The smell of coffee (cheap granulated stuff or expensive barista style - it makes no difference) makes me feel sick and has, on a handful of occasions, actually caused me to vomit. Wouldn't even contemplate drinking the stuff.

It should not be boiling water on coffee, it burns it. Should be off boil. I prefer to make some filter coffee though. I always put the milk in after.

I don't think the coffee a £500 machine makes is that much better than granulated, certainly doesn't justify the price and convenience of just being able to stick the kettle on and pour.

My filter coffee machine cost £20! And it's far better coffee than instant. Convenience on a morning is fine, put water in, put coffee in, switch on, go get a shower - come back and coffee is ready. Or if having a cooked breakfast at the weekend, put that on when starting the breakfast and it's ready for when the breakfast is cooked.
We still use instant as well.

It's all in the bean for taste; **** beans = **** coffee regardless of the machine. My machine makes an espresso/Americano quicker than it takes to boil a cup of water (about 15-30 seconds all in, depending on the length of the drink). No pods involved. The inconvenience is emptying the grinds once per day and cleaning it down once per month.

I like instant coffee. Ours are sachets from Starbucks (for nowt, r lasses daughter works there). Very nice.

And it's water, sachet, sugar then milk. About 5 a day.

    I don't drink tea.

Because it's fashionable, the choice of coffee available is much better now than it was even 6/7 years ago. Should deffo give it another go for the cost of a £10 cafetiere.
