Great news. Especially pleased as the Scottish clubs have acted with integrity, under what seemed to be huge pressure from the increasingly corrupt looking officials in the Scottish game to parachute the new Rangers back into Division 1.
Proper PMSL - but it is really the correct decision in this case Dont think the old rangers can even pay its football debts and will be completely liquidated so this is really a brand new club - but with no history of accounts etc Will they be allowed to sign players?
Well 4 years actually - thats if they dont get stuck somewhere as it will be everyones cup final etc etc
When does the season start there? Just thinking that 3 clubs are going to have to shuffle up a division, these now have to start planning for a higher level of football and bringing players in. Will make new Football Manager interesting as well....start off as the new Rangers in SFL3!
Wouldn't bank on it, what players do they have? They have to attract players to play on the 3rd division.
Gretna didn't seem to find it too difficult! Rangers will still have 50,000 paying customers every week. The rest of the division will have about 3,500.
They'll soon do that with huge crowds and stadium, have you seen the quality in the Scottish lower leagues, Athersley Rec would do well in their third division.
Does this not mean that every club in all the divisions will now get a 'Rangers pay day' though ? integrity or financial interest maybe ?
The right decision. Shows that corruption won't be accepted. Now if only the same could apply in England with Portsmouth....
True, but even the majority of Division 1 voted against them. Plus a lot of the Division 3 clubs seem a little edgy about the increased policing costs and general inability of their stadiums to cope with 10,000 away fans. Will be nothing if not interesting. And yes, I do expect them to walk back through the leagues, at least as far as Diviviosn 1 in successive seasons, but that's not really the point.
The average attendance was apparently 475 so a total of 4750 between the ten sides - looks like I was doing them a disservice!
The divison 3 teams are in for a windfall next season, They could do with The Don setting them up with a membership scheme..... £30 or £7.50 with your membership card, away supporters £30.
Yeah, 4k hairy Weegie's turning up at the likes of Elgin who've probably got a couple of cops and 1/2 dozen stewards. Going to look a bit silly.
