Right then, first I'll start off again by saying it was a good performance today by the reds. A fair result in the end although we may have just edged it on the chances front. Southampton are still unbeaten and are predicted to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. I would have taken 2 wins and a draw at the start of the season from the first 4 games and im really happy with the performances and the results so far. I expect a really tough game at Norwich next week and a draw will be a great result at Carrow Road. Bring on Stoke for our next home, a game where i expext 3 points. We will hammer one team at Oakwell soon. Anyway here are the ratings. Colgan (8) Great one on one save with Rasiak and Wrigh phillips. Wish he's have saved pen Hassell (6) Poor second half display from Bobby, first goal came from his misjudgement for there corner. Good 1st half though Williams (7) Looked a bit sluggish but what a last ditch tackle on Wright phillips, could say he saved us the point. Kay (8) Getting better and better at centre half. Looks confident and is playing really well so far. Keep it up!!! Reid (9) MOTM What can you say about reidy today, magnificent no nonsense defending from him today. Just edged Togwell Devaney (7) Fantastic 1st half, second half was a bit quiet although our main threat going forward. Togwell (8) Great signing for us, battles and his engine is non stop. breaks everything up in midfield. Howard (7) Quiet game from Brian today although he did his job. Expexted a bit more from him today. McIndoe (8) His tracking back was brilliant today. Looks a class buy this guy. Good Going Forward, good tracking back. Workhorse down the left Hayes (7) great pen (again) looks good with ball but not so good at the physical side, seemed to shy out a bit today. Not bad game though Richards (7) Took his goal well although should have scored before in first half. I thought he was well looked after today by the southampton defence. SUBS Wright (6) keeps coming on and achieving nothing, his first touch and link up play isnt very good. ppl will still say keep trying him but i think its time to give coulson his go. Healy (6) seemed a bit slow with the pace of the game when he came on. lacking match fitness i think. will become a good signing though Tonge (6) Not enough time All in all I think this league will suit us. Every game is gonna be like a cup final and teams will find it hard to beat us but we will also find it hard to beat teams aswell. Home form need to pick up and if we can win 2 out of 3 home games this season, we will stand in good stead. Still early but future looks bright. Still need a striker and back up defender. Where was Ozzie? Thought we missed Hecky today aswell. Come on You REDS!!!
Interesting report. Thanks. Susprised that Devaney only got 7 (although I wasn't at the match but it sounded like he had a better game than that) but from my uninformed position I'd also like to see Coulson given a try ahead of Wright sooner rather than later. Presumably he'll play on Tuesday which will be his opportunity to push for a few minutes of first-team football.
Good report - What I couldn't understand was ANY of the substitutions. Healy clearly short of match fitness. Didn't think Togwell was injured, so I can't work out why AR took him off.
RE: Good report - What I couldn't understand I couldnt understand either why togwell came off. I also think taking Howard off just after we'd scored the pen was a mistake. The lads would have been buzzing and concentrating for the next 5 mins but because ritchie made the sub, everyone was calmed. Not knocking the guy tho, he got us up and will keep us up. Id have left it anothe 5 mins tho.
