Suffolk's tourist board are plaaning to re-brand Suffolk as 'the curious county' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19959510. If you were re-branding South Yorkshire what words/phrase would you use? I'll start with 'Looking backwards, going nowhere'
What about a catchy phrase like the 'F*** off and visit somewhere else,we hate Bird Gough and Parkinson more than you yer soft southern B******s County'........................obviously not taking into account Sheffields 'Heart of the City' and 'The Devonshire Quarter' and the 'Cathedral Quarter'...you can visit the South Yorkshire Riviera there.
'South Yorkshire, a false county from the stupid minds of government in 1974' Now the West Riding that's a real county
Often wondered about that. Is there a South Yorkshire county council? or is it the four combined MBC's of Barnsley Doncaster Rotherham & Sheffield. I seem to remember buying a SY badge from the Civic Hall years ago. When people wore badges. 80's. The land that time forgot? I remember years ago my mate used to refer to Thurnscoe as "The forbidden planet".....
