We'd decided that when Heidi died that we'd let the young un have a litter and pick the pup she wanted to keep. They always have a favourite. We had Heidi put to sleep on Tuesday and Holly came into season, TWO MONTHS EARLY, THE NEXT DAY. Don't get me wrong, although I know that mammals step up the breeding programme in times of peril and death, I'm not daft enough to think that the young un registered the loss, decided we needed to boost the pack numbers and started her season 24 hours later but what's the chances eh? So, 71 days and counting, we should have a litter of brand new blank canvasses and life goes on.
About the 18th so not far off. I don't think we're going with the stud I showed you. He's a bit too longed haired and, with the kind of lives our dogs lead, that's not very practical. I've contacted a breeder near Leeds who may have a suitable dog. As soon as we know what we're doing I'll send you a picture.
