I've never understood

Why strikers are the most expensive players on the pitch and keepers rarely cost more than a couple of million and none (in the UK) have been over £10m

A number of outfield players over £20 million (including defenders) in the UK. Most expensive keepers

Craig Gordon £9m
Bartez £7.8m

Why?

Schmeichel regularly won games for United.

Dudek won Liverpool the European Cup ... although they'd never have been in it without Gerrard
