Something for you real ale drinkers (From the official site): Real Ale-loving Reds fans will be delighted to hear of Barnsley FC's new-founded association with local brewery Acorn who produce award-winning meticulously crafted ales which include the supremely popular Barnsley Bitter. Founded in the 1850's, Acorn Brewery provide a range of high-quality ales which are brewed with only the finest malts and hops and use the same yeast strains as the original Barnsley Brewery. Famous for their Barnsley Bitter, Barnsley Gold and Acorn Brewery Blonde, the local ale will be on sale in Preedy's Lounge as well as the Hospitality areas in the East Stand. Director Don Rowing commented, "It is great news for the Club and for the fans as they can enjoy locally brewed ale including the famous Barnsley Bitter. At the Club we are always looking to support the local community and local businesses and we encourage people to be associated with the club. " Dave Hughes, representative of Acorn Brewery, said, "To have the local brewery and football club working together is fantastic. It all ties in nicely together. "The beer itself is a traditional Yorkshire-style beer with a lot of history, our version of Barnsley beer is near to the original recipe, which dates back over 100 years and I'm sure a lot of people will recognise the product around the Yorkshire region. To have it inside the ground is a great boost for us and hopefully for the town itself." Preedy's membership is available to purchase now for just £30. Reds supporters can purchase theirs by calling the Commercial Department on 01226 211182. Please note that Reds supporters must be a Season Ticket holder and over the age of 18 to join Preedy's.
