I can agree with both sides. Some may have to work etc. But, priorities should be lined up. My first is getting to the football but as i say some people have to work at weekends.
So you have to be rich to be a real fan not everyone can afford to go to every game home and away also not everyone has the time, health or lots of other reasons
Fair point............ and that wasn't meant to be disrespectful. However, I try and get to most games and the ones i don't I can't stand listening to on Radio. It merely serves to remind me that I should be there and not listening from afar....................and FFS Derek Parker!!!?? I would rather spend a cosy night in with the local mormons society!!! :'(
Not all "real fans" live in Barnsley. Not all "real fans" can afford to travel so far for every single match. Not all "real fans" have no other life other than football. I could go on.
RE: So you have to be rich to be a real fan I do agree................but from my experience I would rather watch sky sports and see all thE scores as they happen rather than a pretentious local radio station 'bigging' itself up claiming to give 'the best coverage in South Yorkshire (aye! - and the only coverage in SY!)
Derek Parker????? excellent player for BFC, Saw him in that famous game when we drew 2-2 v Dee Dahs at Hillsbro and some pillock broke his leg in the second half before 'god' scored a late equaliser. Yes, I am old enough!!!! ................DP is very dour at commentating tho IMHO.
but when push comes to shove all 'real' fans will make that extra effort..............................so how come certain BFC fans came out of the woodwork v Leicester (cheap ticket, great chance to watch us stay up, primates from Elland Road go down) in last home game last season but not the previous home game v Palace (when we most needed them?)............itr's funny but the reasons NOT to go watch BFC become fewer the bigger the occassion. In the 80s 15-20,000 (yes, i do remember DP!!) of us had fewer family and personal commitments hence the bigger support (and the Prem Season too!!).....purely coincidence of course and nothing to do with being succesful.
........another good point. Football ain't cheap these days. However, - not aimed at you of course- but give a couple of nights on the lash v BFC I bet quite a few would choose the first option (probably more rewarding!) ..............there are a number of people I know who 'support' BFC as and when it suits. Financial Reasons are usually used as an excuse when we are not doing well for not going and watching the games.
I support BFC when it suits, normally every Saturday with the odd Tuesday/Wednesday thrown in for good measure regardless of the financial implications, but not everyone is that lucky and can afford it. I used to be in that position, so I know where they're coming from. It's not all black and white.
RE: When you first started posting I clocked you as a ****** I have to agree with you again, thats twice this week
RE: When you first started posting I clocked you as a ****** ..... .............you are the one with the 'hand' logo - not me mate! Think again me thinks!
Don't quit your job BUT equally when - and if! - we ever get back in the Prem dont moan at people like me who saw them though thick n thin getting priority on tickets. PS - Not everyones cup of tea but I schedule my career/work around BFC not vice versa.
