Lets take stock of the current situation at the minute, we are only 3 points from safety FACT yet people calling for AR head need to question their judgement. Last season no one thought we would go up (especially young pusher) but we did, and that was down to AR and the players. He then says they deserve a chance to prove themselves and it started off fine but things go worong he is then man enough to admit we ned an experienced center back and forward, yet he gets slated. As for GS chosing the players that is a load of tosh because it is common sense that a club/agent will offer a player to the club to which GS then puts them forward to AR and it is his choice if we have them or not! This was stated last night on radio sheff, yet i disagree that AR has not suggested players becasue mcloud, constanine, johnson, foster, and lucketti to name a few!! If we would have got Bates from boro half this board would be up in arms becasue he is not experienced but for me quality comes first and experience is a bonus!!! We do have money to spend but we are not flush AR has said this as has GS so it need to be spent on the right type of players!!!! Simple fact is we all knew it would be hard this season yet we are still in with a chance of safety and i personally think our 1st 11 can beat any team in this league and they can easily go on a run of 4 wins on the spin, like colchester and wendy!!!
Your "3 points from safely FACT" isn't a fact! We are only 1 point from safety, 2 if you take into account our inferior goal difference.
Your "3 points from safely FACT" isn't a fact! Why do you and others on this board, think that if you include the word FACT in your post that it becomes irrefutable. I have never heard such nonsense in my life. 1) At this stage in the proceedings, NO ONE can state with any certainty just how many points will be needed to be safe in 5 or 6 months time. 2) How long did it take AR to realise that we needed a Centre Back and a Forward, when almost everyone else new in the first few weeks of the season and the more sensible ones new at the end of last season? 3) How do you know that players like McCloud, Constantine, Johnson, Foster and Lucketti were players suggested solely by Ritchie? With one place to fill in the team, and a choice between Walcott and Henry, who do you think most people would pick and why? 4) If you think our first 11 can beat any team in this Division, then how come so many of them have beaten us already, despite the fact that in some cases we have played "superior football"? The majority of our players have been magnificent this season. They have sweated blood for Andy Ritchie and IMHO, he has let them down badly by not giving them the help they deserve and need. Having said all of that, I am not suggesting that Mr Shepherd is blameless by any means. I still believe that his obsession with having "the bottom line in BLACK", will in the long run cause more problems than it saves, if it is achieved at the expense of consolidation this season and next.
The agents don't go.... to the chairman you half bake.</p> Agents get in touch with the manager direct and then if interested he will persue it up to the point of valuation of the player. Then and only then will the chairman be involved.</p> In this instance it seems that GS has been doing his own networking because AR has been so negligent in getting players in.</p> Throughout football there are Chairmen who like to get involved in this signing players malarky from the start (barry Fry's of this world) but the majority of Chairmen stay out of it.</p> To think that agents go to the chairman first is complete and utter ******.</p>
well I will state categorically now that 53 points will keep us up and given the closeness of this league my guess is 49 will probably just be enough
GS stated last night that the agent for bates contacted him and that other players hd been put forward to him to which AR has turned down!!!! don't believe me listen to football heavan from last night you half bake!!! Am not saying that agents do not contact the mangers but that all depends on the relationships between them!!
I will repeat.... "In this instance it seems that GS has been doing his own networking because AR has been so negligent in getting players in."</p> Read what I wrote.</p>
i agree with some points as i think you do with me and i am not saying AR is not at fault for taking so long to try for new players and i cannot gaurentee what points we need to be safe, however i do not see why we cannot go on a run like colchester have done? They started poorly but have learnt from past mistakes so who is to say we cannot? The reason i believe that AR suggested those players is because he is the one who has mentioned them publically not GS, as of last night when he named a number of players he had been offered and not what AR had suggested (bar Kaziem Richards)!!!! Whereas the other named players have either turned us down on contract terms or the clubs have rejected our approaches for the players this tells me that they are players that AR wanted and not him turning them down as well as him expressing his disappointment at missing out on them!! Togwell is a prime example as AR said he was impressed with last season on loan at port vale and had him scouted yet how is it that people say GS suggested him to AR? Who would you pick out of sheringham and rooney then, i know i would pick rooney as would most in both examples given by yourself and myself people would chose the quality first and experience is a bonus. Maybe AR has left it little too late but i said at the start of the season look at donny they chop and change players every season and can never get any consistancy, whereas AR seems to add to the sqaud gradually and as frustrating as it is i think it is the better method as he makes sure he gets the right players in. The signings made since he has been in charge are on the whole good and have done a job so i trust him and GS to do the best for the club and keeping AR is only the start of making the club stable!!!
i can only apoligise then is he networking or doing his job in informing AR of players he has been offered? I hope he is networking to honest i.e going to clubs and asking who is available etc this way he gives AR more options and scouting opportunities? I find it hard to beleive that AR does not ahve any targets otherwise he would not be going scouting tonight?
RE: well I will state categorically now that 53 points will keep us up I'm sure you know that wasn't my point. "At this stage in the proceedings" was how I started it, meaning that to say that we only need another 3 points now, to guarantee that we stay up, is ludicrous and certainly not FACT. I bow to your superior knowledge stats wise and I'm sure that your estimate of how many points will be required at the end of the season, may not be too far away.
RE: i agree with some points as i think you do with me Believing that he suggested players is different to saying that he did. Sherringham is past is best and Rooney has more experience than Walcott. I think you should think carefully about Ritchie's signings but we can agree to disagree.
November 15th........................ And you are argueing on how many points we need to stop up What a reflection on the state of Barnsley football Club
RE: November 15th........................ actually not though are we?? we are both commenting the AR GS situation!! Would like to hear your spin on ths situation young pusher
