fat ageing defender. no pace. comments such as "he won't let anyone get past him" are crap. we get mullered by pace all the time so why get someone slower than a 1 legged Tony Vaughan? ok - so he's good in the air. but he'll be 2nd best to anything on the ground. He was great for us when he was here but we should be getting someone younger. Also - if we've freed up a squad place by getting shut of a left back, surely we should get another left back. Robbie W should start but if he's injured i don't trust Austin there and i dunno too much about Atkinson
apparently atkinson is quality from what i ve heard but the accademy players seem to have the problem of stepping up to the real world. the question is why? mike
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! At least there is one other person who can see that to bring back Taggart would be the biggest mistake ever for this club.
You might want to ask Nicky Wroe I think it might be the way the crowd give our new, home grown players such support and have patience with the odd mistake born out of lack of experience.
Would love to see Tags back personally. Your other point though about another left back, Atkinson is definately good enough. Looked good in that position on his first team debut.
Dunno how you can say Atkinson is definitely good enough He's had less than 30 minutes first team experience. I hope he goes on to be great, but 'definately good enough' at this stage of his career is a bit wide of the mark.
RE: Dunno how you can say Atkinson is definitely good enough Ok then. I believe Atkinson will develop into a player highly capable of playing that position. Is that more to your liking? (BTW, first impressions arent always deceiving)
"ever" ???????? ha ha haaaaaa. It wouldn't even be the worst decision this SUMMER. Sadly, I don't see it as a decision in our hands. I'll tell you what tho, you can't miss what you've never had - and he's never had pace. Taggart is way too good for us. Players in a division above this couldn't get past him when he was still LEARNING the game. So I doubt they would now. Tho granted, he'd be sent off the odd time...
Tom Williams vs. MK Dons on the first day of the season Was great! He was really impressive. It went drastically down hill after that.
He still couldn't cross a ball... but I liked the way he whipped them in and presumed he'd get better once he'd found his range. He never found his range.
I think... it was just a case of, "it's my debut I better do my best" After that game he really did fail to impress. Good luck to him at Gillingham though.
