First post but I've been reading for a long time so.... We've just lost two matches in a week away from home against teams who have wage/transfer budgets and (current) fanbases bigger than ours. They also both finished above us in the football pyramid last year. Last Saturday we won at home against a team who meet the above criteria too. Last Saturday, all was rosy. This Saturday there are threads saying hill out. It's crazy. The days when we were an established championship (division 1) team are done, so a scrap towards mid table is the best we can hope for, people need to take off their blinkers. Hill may well not be as good as he thinks but what is/were the alternatives? (Russell slade?slackwell?) I'm fairly sure we'd be in l1 had they been appointed last year. I'd love to see realistic alternatives from the hill out crew. And I'd await their inevitable posts when the next manager didn't get us higher up the league. I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that we have a manager who likes to see the game played well and is working with limited resources. So people ought to realise that "better" teams might hammer us but we need to have some perspective and look to the next game.
I understand your sentiments, but we're talking as if the opposition is Barcelona. We are not even close to competing away from home yet we've been a Championship team for 70 odd years. Not worried???
Stop it with the it's only Brighton ****** Most teams are Barcelona money wise compared to us, yes even Brighton and some teams in the lower divisions. The days when we were a bigger team than Brighton are gone. They were expected to beat us today and they did. Maybe these days Birmingham will be an easier game than Brighton - times change we'll still be a championship team this time next year
Cheers, and I get what you're saying but 70 odd years doesn't mean anything really now. Look at the money Brighton/wolves/boro have spent and compare it to us. I understand this sounds defeatist but they should be beating us. Nearly every team in the league should be beating us on paper. it just becomes a little frustrating when the manager is bashed for not performing miracles. Worried? Certainly, but unless we get some more money from somewhere I can only see a season of struggling but I can't attribute blame to that on hill or even rowing who has made mistakes but not withstanding isn't going to be able to generate for us the money to buy plays like CMS or Wayne bridge on loan.
Some good, sensible points well put. Give yourself a more distinctive username if you are sticking around.
