Townsend is just guff, a banale, incoherent rambler.

 

And? it was a cakewalk 5-0 victory, nothing wrong in what was said.

That's ITV for you, gushing all over the 'stars', patronising and almost rude to the minnows. Although Five Live has been taking the mick too. Thing is, we all know San Marino are a side of amateurs, we all know they'll get battered, so whilst a couple of jokes is fair game, why continually make snide comments? Amusing observations about San Marino's lack of quality and status turns into excessive, arrogant sounding sneers if repeated too much.

 

ITV never managed to replace Ron Atkinson.

 

The whole sport production at ITV is garbage.

They were making snide comments about bank clerks and the like, because of course they're inferior to people who get paid to kick a ball around a bit of grass and can't do their 2 times table.
