Absolutely, mate Looking forward to seeing the likes of Smith, Tonge & Golbourne for the first time. I think it might be a bit too soon for O'Brien & Dawson with regards to their injuries. I like watching the likes of Aguero & Silva, though, and appreciate players with skill (ala Glavin, Hignett, Millar).
Re: Absolutely, mate Silva is the key to City winning the title for me if he stays fit they`ll win it.
Correct. Shows just how far English players are off the pace ability wise. Best league in the world propped up by foreign super stars.
You've kind of illustrated your own point. English players don't get the chance to develop because of the imbalance of mercenary foreign players and clubs stockpiling players. It is also why we have an embarrassing national team and only one Englishman in the frame to manage it. At the root of it is the Skysports subscription you all get so much pleasure out of and the glory seeking billionaire playboys that it has attracted to our league. Enjoy it, but never complain about how your local club perpetually struggles to keep it's head above water financially and it's inability to hang onto a decent player for more than half a season. You have already pre-empted that argument.
And if you enjoyed Watching the likes of Darren Barnard, Ashley Ward, Craig Hignett, Jan Aage Fjortoft, Bruce Dyer & Neil Shipperley play for Barnsley thanks to the Sky Sports money, due to being in the Premiership (along with their parachute payments), without complaining, then don't hypocritically lecture anyone.
Silva must be the most technically gifted player in the prem? plays with his head up , the ball for the most part under control and seems to know what he wants to do before he's received it in most cases prob just needs to add some goals now....
Re: And if you enjoyed Ooh this is familiar territory Kev love, without Sky money in the game, we were of a standing to attract that kind of player anyway - Sky money didn't get us promoted remember, if anything it was working against us in the pockets of other clubs. And as much as I enjoyed those players too, the whole process nearly sent us under, true? Now, fourteen years on, the polarisation has multiplied several fold with the influx of the billionaire owners - it is a serious issue.
I don't take football as seriously as I used to I love it when we win, or play well, but don't become a drama queen anymore if we lose. Proof, if proof were needed, that I'm not a real fan. I still really like you, though. It's just that I don't agree with you on this point.
Re: And if you enjoyed The money from sky in football goes to finance the over sized egos of the players and their agents. Very little filters through to grasp roots. A majority of these billionaires involved in football will not be using their own money but loans secured on league prize money and future television revenue. They will be looking to make profit from the sky money and future transfers out if and when success happens. Just look at Portsmouth west ham Birmingham to name but three.
Yh agree with that, Silva is proper top class. His touch, vision, passing are quality. Got to win player of the season.
