http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6199338.stm I think Davey's qualifications have been called "badges" and mocked several times. I know that when I have studied and sat exams, the results meant more than simply "certificates." Maybe Davey deserves more respect...
"Why this scenario doesn't happen on the continent" I seem to remember David Platt becoming coach at Sampdoria despite being unqualified. Roberto Mancini may be another.
Personally, I think they are a great idea.

In that case....................................................... We are luck to have a caretaker manager who is qualified to take us in to Europe. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssss I cant wait.
Reread the article - makes no mention about taking clubs into Europe but.... it does talk about the solid grounding that the coaches receive. Football training and coaching has moved on so much in the last 20, 10, even 5 years. It is extremely rare that a high level player succeeds in management. Most of the top level coaches (Mourinho, Ferguson, Benitez, etc.) are excellent coaches who have worked their way up. Why mock Davey?
I'm sorry but... "Yyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!! I can't wait" is just a tad sarcastic.
RE: Reread the article - makes no mention about taking clubs into Europe but.... Hope you didn't think I was mocking Simon Davey? Certainly not my intention. Follow the link which does say that managers/coaches will have to have the higest UEFA qualification avalable in their country to manage the club in Europe after 2010. In England that means the Pro Licence and in Cyprus for example, the A Licence. I am an FA coach myself and a big advocate of managers and coaches having the qualifications for the job. Been banging that drum on here for years and have had my share of critisim for doing it. The genaral feeling on here has been that you have to have been a top pro for 20 years to know anything about football. I hope that myth is finally being put to rest.
