…reading the posts on here. It's almost bipolar. We win, and everyone's on about how wonderful all the players are (except, of course, for those who are never, ever, satisfied, or have a grudge against a particular player). We lose, and all the players are cr*p (except, of course, for those who are easily satisfied or really, really, rate a particular player). I know it has always been the same, and realise that all club's supporters are just like ours. What I haven't quite worked out (probably because I can't be bothered to), is whether these are two discrete factions or it's actually the same individuals whose opinions are simply governed by the elation of winning or the disappointment of losing.
For me I rarely go overboard in praise of any particular players and am rarely negative by the same token. I think its unrealistic to expect a mistake free 90 minutes, look at Man city defence for eg and how much they cost and how they are still error prone. Commitment and not hiding are the things any player can do regardless of ability . And on the whole our performances have shown that this season. If we go down, it's due to lack of experience as we all know. I do feel a bit flat after last night, mainly because we had to win in order not to lose further ground on the teams around us. Huddersfield will be a test, we ve not won must win matches like this and we need to show we can.
No - that’s not the point. We have had a steady improvement under Struber. Against Derby it was as though none of those improvements had taken place. We played against Derby like we played at the start of the season. Hardly putting more than two passes together. Players continually making the wrong decisions. I for one found it very very uncomfortable to watch. Horror show - watching the television while hiding behind the sofa.
I think many fans have these two extremes in them, I know that I do. I was feeling really positive after the Xmas period but after last night I'm resigned to league one football again.
