    Alistar Darling paid an accountant &pound;1,400 to do his tax return ...... he's the chancellor for god's sake in charge of billions of pounds and he can't do his own taxes!!!! (doh) </p>

    As chancellor he shouldn't be using anyones money

    Should be able to do his own .... hardly confidence inspiring stuff

    I've no problem with him paying someone who specialises in tax affairs to do that for him

    My wife uses an accountant to do hers (she is self employed) she could do it herself but its quicker and more cost effective to pay a specialist.

    Doesnt cost anything like £1400 though!

    Had darling done the accounts himself no doubt we would have had calls of "what the **** was he doing, we are paying him to run the economy" blah blah blah.

    ...that someone who is in charge of billions to get someone to do his taxes. Made me chuckle at the time</p>
