This week, as always happens at BFC, we have had a mix of exhilaration and despair. 2 great and contrasting wins but a string of injuries to key players and the potential hiatus of the transfer deadline. What impressed me, and always has, was his equanimity to all situation - treating triumph and disaster just the same (to quote Kipling). At no stage did he get carried away with our run and try to ram that down everyone's throat. Nor did he bang on about our misfortune with injuries. I hear so many Prem managers doing that and often wonder what effect that has on the playing squad. If I was a player listening to his interview, I would be hugely reassured that, no matter what, everything is going to turn out OK. That must make for a calm and focussed atmosphere. Equally he does not waste time justifying or defending himself or his decisions and seems prepared to admit to his misjudgements. Nor does he go on and on about refereeing decisions and gives honest assessments of his team's performance instead. think we, as fans, should should take comfort his approach and demeanour. Certainly I do. On the transfer front, reading between the lines, I think Long will re-sign on loan. There may be more to the rumour about Maynard, given LJ played with him a Brizzle and knows him well. There will be a bid(s) for Winnall - my hope is that, if that happens, we either reject them or get full value. Given his comments about central midfield, Kilkenny could still be on the cards. No doubt I'll be totally wrong about any of these, but it's fun speculating.
I've just listened to it on Player. I agree with Aylott, even though he's quoting someone who makes exceedingly good cakes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hard to see what's not to like about Lee Johnson. I know being able to speak well isn't everything but it goes a long way to reassuring everyone. If he believes in himself that has to rub off on the players. Perhaps a lot of Barnsley folk distrust anyone who speaks "nicely". Southern softie, doesn't understand the northern psyche, etc. All the vile abuse that he has been getting this season has been well over the top. He could turn out to be a bigger hero than Danny Wilson was. Well, NEARLY as big
